The Evolution of Physiotherapy

Since its origin Physiotherapy has continually evolved.
Charlie King Clinical Director at Liberty Physiotherapy Home of NET in Rotherham believes Neuromuscular Energising Therapy (NET) is the next step
in its evolution. Physiotherapy is all about using our hands in combination with our knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology and kinesiology
to detect dysfunction within an individual’s neuromuscular system.
Neuromuscular Energising Therapy fulfils this role perfectly. It is a unifying approach to neurological and musculoskeletal therapy by the investigation of the dynamics of
movement through “hands-on” therapy in combination with functional
anatomy and movement analysis.

DEVELOPMENT OF NET
As a Physiotherapist with advanced training in Bobath Technique, Charlie King recognised that muscle activity throughout the body could be detected through specific hand placement on different areas of the body. Through practicing Physiotherapy techniques I recognised that greater improvements were being made with individual clients that had shown very little response to the usual Bobath technique.
Following discussions with other professionals I recognise that further development of the concept and principles of Neurological Rehabilitation was necessary. From this the development of Neuromuscular Energising Therapy (NET) was conceived. The opportunity to develop NET Training Courses has allowed me to share my knowledge with other multidisciplinary professionals.
